Relatable Content is Nothing New

Ever been to a standup comedy show? The crux of any legendary bit is something painfully relatable, and obvious. You know how when you become an adult you realize most of your free time involves planning what food to eat, making said food, and then cleaning up after the food? Yeah…me too, because we all have much more in common than most people think. Nothing new here, just a different playing field.

Everyone Wants to Feel Seen

Not to toot my own horn (said literally everyone ever before bragging about something), but I’ve had a lot of recent success with posting relatable, witty, funny social media content (150 million views in the last few months on Instagram alone🤯). I realized it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, or what your occupation is, everyone just wants to feel seen. So to that notion, just as you would pop an edible and hit a standup comedy show to laugh at painfully relatable jokes, go ahead and doom-scroll for a bit and enjoy the endless black hole that is content creation. It’s quite literally endless…fucking nuts! Keyword here, spend “a bit” of time. Here’s a major productivity hack for you: set your Instagram daily time limit.

I Challenge You to Take Things One Step Further

Ok, so you like scrolling funny, relatable content. It’s a good laugh, often well-executed, and comforting. It’s nice to know that you’re not alone in your attempt to recreate walking culture in America when you return from Europe. You know what’s even more fun? Creating the funny content and connecting with an audience. Take a stab at it yourself, and make doom-scrolling a resourceful data consumption exercise. See how I just made doom-scrolling healthy😉?

Making content is an incredibly creative and expressive outlet. It doesn’t have to be about monetizing your social media, it can simply be ironic and for fun. Odds are you probably will start making money if you’re consistent. You also don’t have to take yourself too seriously, and it’s easier to get started than you may think. Remember, you’re already doom-scrolling an endless supply of funny, relatable content. There’s your inspiration. Start saving your favorite videos that resonate with you and put your own spin on it. Hell…recreate it if you’d like. There’s always room for new players in the content game.

Stay creative,

Josh Hublitz
